Well folks, we’re nearing the point where my 92' YJ is ready for paint! Before I can get it painted, the Jeep does need some body work.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The previous owner had installed aftermarket fender flares and rocker armor which left me with 22 small holes along the body on each side. The first place I thought to get a quote from was the shop that the company my dad works for, owns. Since they always did the paint for my Mustang and I know they do a good job, I figured i’d try getting a quote for body work and paint. The total? $10,500 (with employee discount). That’s more than I payed for the actual vehicle!

So, tell me Oppo is this a fair price (Im not sure I believe it is)? And if not, what should be the estimate cost of doing something like this?

What did the quote entail? If it was a lot of body work, plus a color change, I could see that total. But that seems rather pricey for just a repaint and filling those holes. I’d definitely shop around, it certainly can’t hurt.

Depends.

Down to the metal, full respray? What brand of paint? Deltron or something like that?

In the resto circles, $10k plus is normal for a full strip, skim where needed, epoxy, filler, bc, cc, buff, etc.

Those holes are an easy fill with a MIG in my opinion. Shouldn’t be bad, or expensive.

It’s a Jeep. Fill the holes with parts obviously. I put a ridiculous amount of holes in my JK while I had it... And welded a few things on it... And removed some stock things...

It got pricey. I have a car now.

If you do go the Jurassic Park route, just remember, Sand Beige not silver.
